Making music with Drake

Each year a number of our pupils get the opportunity to be involved with making music through our relationship with Drake Music Scotland.  Drake’s innovative approach means that no matter someone’s previous experience or ability they can contribute in a meaningful way to the creation and playing of music.  This year our pupils have gone for a very rocky/poppy piece, a paean to our “overlords of doom”.  You can listen here.

Pupils have now started working on a piece to accompany a whole school, cross-disciplinary project based around the Water of Leith that has been running all year.  This term we are working with Edinburgh-based musician Pete Lannon to develop soundscapes that reflect human interaction, both present and past, with the Water of Leith as well as its importance as a natural habitat.  Our pupils working with Drake have started to compose music to accompany this theme.
