This week we were very lucky to have a school visit to The Lyceum’s Scenic, Prop & Costume Workshop. It was a great opportunity for our pupils to see the sort of work that goes on in the background in preparing for a Lyceum production. The visit complements Project Genie, running in association with The Lyceum, were our pupils are exploring the many aspects critical to a successful Lyceum production.
Pupils found out about the typical, and not so typical, challenges facing the designers and prop-builders in preparing for a production, using the workshops’s store of 1:25 scale “model boxes” from past productions. We also spent time in the costume store, losing ourselves in time and space, exploring (and trying on) some of the extensive array of costumes from present and past.
We would like to thank the staff from The Lyceum for giving so much of their time and expertise, and allowing us into their workshop amid the preparations for their next production.
